French bred galloper Sabar was heavily backed first up at Hamilton and gave his supporters no worries at all, careering away in the straight for a dominant win. It was the win of a horse destined to go through the grades and he strikes a suitable race here. The gelding’s trainer Lindsey Smith is in superb form at present as well.

Not many last start Group 1 placegetters run at Warrnambool but Queen Air falls into that category off the back of her excellent third placing in the VRC Oaks. Spelled since, she has jumped out very well for this at Hamilton and while she will no doubt be better over further, should be too classy for them.

Crosshill is an interesting runner here, being a UK import on his Australian debut. All his form in Britain is over jumps and that is the direction he will go in here, but his jumpouts have been good and the booking of John Allen is a strong push. Expect him to be very competitive in this maiden.

Ex-Kiwi Remix ran a terrific race first up at Wangaratta, rattling home to finish second. The gelding raced a little flat second up at Sandown, but that was a much stronger race and he is likely looking for this trip now. From barrier two Damien Thornton should give him every chance.
