Racing comes from Pakenham Racecourse on Thursday night where our best bet comes from the Lloyd Kennewell stable. Following a hot day the track will be rated good.

Saint Lazare has two seconds from two runs this prep and looks primed to break through here third up. He charged home at the end of the 1400m and just failed to overhaul an all the way leader, but from barrier five this race sets up perfectly for him. Blake Shinn will give him every chance.

Loved the debut of Untapped in a Blue Diamond Prelude that the market tells us is one of the key form references for Saturday’s Group 1. The Greg Eurell trained two year old looks like he will eat up 1200m here and this is a considerable drop in class. Should prove a class above.

Three year old filly Ethel Maude showed a stack of ability last prep and can prove hard to beat first up. The highlight was a fifth placing in the G2 Manifold behind Zardozi which is exceptional form for this. She does come in first up but has jumped out nicely and her only start here was a dominant win.

If Renege was being priced off his jumpouts I think he would be a solid favourite here but his debut third in October was a touch disappointing. Nevertheless, happy to be with him here off the back of what have been some excellent jumpout performances, particularly for a 1000m race. Should lead and take catching.

Legend of Dubai showed really good ability in his first Australian prep and has been jumping out very nicely for his return. He will likely get back and need some luck from barrier two, but Pakenham is an ideal track for him and he is absolutely capable of winning this with the right run.
