The gelding put the writing on the wall with a fast finishing second placing here first up and showed he is going as well as he did last campaign when he ran well in some good class Saturday races at Flemington. Expect him to sit back of midfield and get over them late.

Sheer Reward produced a sharply improved effort at his first run for new trainer Trevor Rogers, finishing off hard over 1200m in a race dominated from the front at Cranbourne. The gelding will strip fitter from that and from barrier three with Damian Lane up, has a good chance in this thin maiden.

Let’s Get Down was a little disappointing first up at Geelong but prepared to forgive that effort given the run in transit and the pattern on the day. The Phillip Stokes trained three year old is open too sharp improvement in this race off the back of what he showed in his first preparation.

Lonfire has been knocking on the door to win one and gets his chance here to break through. He flew home last time over this track and trip and while he wasn’t badly ridden there, Damian Lane picking up the ride is always a positive. With the big field here they should be running along in front.
