He produced a good third placing first up at Flemington and naturally this race is easier. On a suitable track, he looks ready to break through.

Keen on Atteindre to lead and take plenty of running down. The mare was beaten in a field of five last time out but suspect it was a fairly smart one that downed her and there was a huge margin to third. There is very little speed here so Luke Cartwright can go straight to the front, use his claim and take all the catching.

Morning Melody looks over the odds in this very even race. The locally trained mare typically fires on her home track and she also gets the benefit of the claim for Luke Cartwright. She’s been racing very well without winning, those two factors might make the difference. Expect her to be right in the finish at nice odds.

As you would expect for a $75K maiden there are some very nice types entered, but none as promising as Subsix. His trial form since being gelding has been outstanding, most recently at Cranbourne where he showed a brilliant turn of foot to win running away under a hold. If he can bring that to raceday he will prove very hard to beat.
