It took a few tries for Kermadelle to break her maiden but when she did so it was in utterly dominant style, putting a six length margin on her rivals. The Lindsey Smith trained mare looks well placed to go back to back as the manner of that win suggests well above average ability. If she can have any luck from the inside draw she’ll take all the beating.

Lord Protector put the writing on the wall with a fast finishing second placing last time at Ballarat. The gelding was second last at the top of the straight but worked home strongly to finish second over 1500m. Getting out to 2000m here looks ideal and the booking of Jordan Childs is a positive.

Kathy’s Beau can run a big race here first up. The gelding was a dominant debut winner at Kyneton back in April before running well in two subsequent races. Spelled since, he’s warmed up for this with two quiet trials. The Mitch Freedman stable is flying at present, expect him to be fighting out the finish.
