Lensman was beaten as an odds on favourite last start at Canberra but it’s fair to say the ride didn’t give him much hope. The Donna Scott trained gelding is knocking on the door to win a race and getting out to the mile will suit, as does the booking of Blaike McDougall. Expect him to get back and come storming over the top of them.

Blixten caught the eye with a fast finishing second placing first up at Tatura and it was a particularly good run given that it is a notoriously hard track to make up ground at. Hopefully the gelding can get away quicker this time and if he does so he will be very hard to beat.

Loved the way that Kingdom of Castile hit the line on debut at Bairnsdale over 1200m. Up until the 100m it was just a run, but he really picked himself up over the last part of the race. It was the run of a horse looking for more ground and he gets that here, in a very ordinary race.

Sizzling Sonata is a firm tracker so the prospect of a good track is very much in his favour. The Patrick Payne trained four year old has jumped out very nicely for this behind two very capable runners from the Maher/Eustace stable. Suspect he will be ready to go first up and he can win here.
