Racing Tips – Thursday Best Bets for Pakenham

Racing heads to Pakenham on Thursday night for eight races, with the first jumping at 5.45pm. The track will be rated good.

Best Bet

11. Pure Paradise
Pakenham R6 (8.15pm)

Impossible to look past the short priced favourite Pure Paradise here. The filly comes off two outstanding runs in Queensland, first chasing home the very smart Barassi in a $250K maiden, before running fourth beaten a length in the Magic Millions Guineas. Ideally drawn on a big spacious track, expect her to be way too good.

Recommended Price: $1.80
Confidence Level: 5/5

More Racing Tips

4. Ortega
Pakenham R1 (5.45pm)

Ortega has been a touch disappointing at two runs back this prep but there were legitimate excuses in both. I like the wide draw and coming back in trip because it should force them to press forward here, and if he can find the lead will take plenty of catching.

Recommended Price: $5.50
Confidence Level: 3/5

7. Scorsese
Pakenham R5 (7.45pm)

Scorsese was beaten in another of these $75K maidens first up but there was plenty to like about the run. He went forward and led at a good pace, only to be collared late. The gelding will only strip fitter for that and looks well placed to break through this time with a clear race fitness and experience edge on key rivals.

Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

7. Memphis Shadow
Pakenham R7 (8.45pm)

Memphis Shadow is flying this prep and looks well over the odds. He was a terrific winner first up at Bendigo before being most unlucky (and ridden badly) at Mornington. Jake Noonan takes overnight and he draws to get a nice run here. In five starts on good ground the gelding has never missed a place.

Recommended Price: $10
Confidence Level: 3/5
