Alma Rise is building a nice record and can make it back to back wins here. She only fell in at short odds last time at Moe but I suspect she is a much better horse on top of the ground. Luke Nolen will give her every chance from barrier five.

If you can look past Spacewalk’s slightly disappointing run on Saturday he is way over the odds in this. He was just a bit keen in that race early and didn’t finish off, but remember he did run a terrific race in this last year off the quick back up and horses that back up within the four days of Flemington have an outstanding record.

If veteran mare Roots brings anything like her best form to this race she is incredibly well placed under the set weights, being clearly the highest rated runner in the race. She had excuses at her last couple of runs too. Expecting a big performance with Jmac up.

Bold Bastille comes back to Flemington and that combined with a drop in trip looks ideal for the filly. She didn’t quite run out a strong 1200m last time at Moonee Valley but she is a proven performer here over 1100m. Mark Zahra has options from barrier eight.

Going with the Sydney form here and Harlem Queen. She ran a very good race in the Spring Champion against the boys and suggest that form is at least as strong as the Wakeful. Like all of them, she is on trial at the trip but she draws to get the right run from barrier five with Blake Shinn up.
