Racing Tips – Saturday Best Bets for Moonee Valley and Rosehill

Moonee Valley generic

Saturday’s racing comes from Moonee Valley and Rosehill, where the latter hosts two key lead ups to the Group 1 Golden Rose.

Best Bet

9. Xtravagant Star
Rosehill R5 (2.05pm)

Xtravagant Star had no luck first up for the new stable at Warwick Farm when caught three wide without cover throughout. Despite the tough run, she fought on gamely in the straight, only getting nailed in the last few strides by a talented horse getting weight from her and which had a perfect run. She will only strip fitter and from the perfect draw should take all the beating.

More Racing Tips

2. Fistsoffury
Moonee Valley R3 (1.45pm)

There was plenty to like about Fistsoffury’s return at Sandown and he can go on with it here. The Hawkes trained three year old was first up against older horses and did a good job to get beaten just over a length. Expect him to strip fitter for that run, he should sit on the speed here and prove very hard to beat.

Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

4. Bainbridge
Moonee Valley R5 (2.55pm)

Lightly raced eight year old Bainbridge is flying this prep and can break through for a much deserved win. He was on the wrong end of a two horse war with Pearl Rain last start and went down narrowly, a gutsy effort considering he was giving her 6.5Kg. From barrier two he should take up the running and take all the catching.

Recommended Price: $5.00
Confidence Level: 3/5

11. Moravia
Rosehill R8 (3.50pm)

It’s a big ask for Moravia to step up to Group 3 level at his second start but this colt looks well capable of it. He was brilliant winning on debut over 900m at Newcastle, coming from off the speed to run down a smart one in Perfect Proposal to win with plenty in hand. Getting out to 1100m looks ideal, and he has plenty of X-factor about him.

Recommended Price: $8.00
Confidence Level: 3/5

2. Snapper
Moonee Valley R8 (4.45pm)

Snapper has not been tried over the 1000m for almost two years but he is certainly a better horse now than he was then, going from a BM64 to a Group 3 winner. He certainly loves this track, having won four from eight here, and his on speed racing style lends itself to the short course. Looks great value at double figure odds.

Recommended Price: $4.50
Confidence Level: 4/5
