Racing Tips – Saturday Best Bets for Flemington and Rosehill

Smokin - Caulfield & Randwick Horse Racing Tips

Group 1 racing comes from both Flemington and Rosehill on Saturday, with the Australian Cup highlighting the Flemington card while it’s the Tancred Stakes at Rosehill.

Best Bet

1. Full of Sincerity
Rosehill R3 (1:20pm)

Kiwis have an outstanding record in the Tulloch Stakes and Full of Sincerity finds a highly winnable edition. The Andrew Forsman trained three year old comes off a terrific run in the NZ Derby where the jockey took off early and he covered ground throughout, battling on well to finish third behind the reigning Australian Derby favourite Sharp ‘n’ Smart. Nash Rawiller takes the ride and the prospect of wet ground will do his chances no harm.

Recommended Price: $3.50
Confidence Level: 4.5/5

More Racing Tips

9. Miss Ghent
Rosehill R2 (12:45pm)

Miss Ghent was a spectacular debut winner against older horses, and while the two year old filly is up in class here she can handle it. Settling back of midfield, she showed an outstanding turn of foot to put her rivals away with ease. She is certainly bred to be smart being by Dundeel, and should relish the 1400m.

Recommended Price: $6.50
Confidence Level: 3/5

2. Hell Queen
Flemington R2 (1:00pm)

Hell Queen can break through for a much deserved stakes win. The filly went up to Bendigo for an easy kill last start and couldn’t have been more impressive, and she has twice placed at stakes level down the straight, including two back behind Maharba whose form ties in with Slipper winner Shinzo. This looks a very winnable race for her.

Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

9. So Unusual
Flemington R5 (3:00pm)

So Unusual is chasing the golden ticket into the Melbourne Cup and can achieve it here. The McEvoy trained stayer is coming off a remarkable win at this track where he was severely impeded around the home turn but responded gamely to come back and win. That was his fourth straight win and he looks capable of better things again.

Recommended Price: $4.50
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

6. Statement
Rosehill R6 (3:20pm)

The internationals have cut a swathe through the Sydney autumn thus far and the Coolmore team can get on the board here with statement. The mare was a dominant winner at Group 3 level in Ireland when last season and she finds a nice winnable race to kick off in. The prospect of wet ground is very much in her favour as well.

Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 4/5

1. Prowess
Rosehill R7 (4:00pm)

Sticking with the Kiwis here and in this case Prowess. She was a Group 1 winner last start in her homeland defeating some smart older horses (see below) and has now taken her record to six wins and two seconds from eight starts. The prospect of a wet track gives her an edge over Pavitra who I think is at her best on genuinely firm ground.

Recommended Price: $2.50
Confidence Level: 4/5

6. Smokin' Romans
Flemington R7 (4:20pm)
18. Campionessa
Flemington R7 (4:20pm)

Like a couple in the Australian Cup at big prices. Smokin’ Romans has been plain in his first couple of runs back but the blinkers go back on and a return to the spring form that saw him win the Turnbull over this track and trip would see him highly competitive. He should press forward in a race without much speed.

Campionessa looks over the odds as well. The Kiwi mare that has been beaten less than a length by smart three year olds (including Prowess) at weight for age at her last two starts is capable of figuring. Unfortunately she tends to get back in the run, but she should be charging home late.

Recommended Price: $13/11
Confidence Level: 3/5

14. Montefilia
Rosehill R8 (4:40pm)

Montefilia showed that she is back to her best with a terrific second placing behind Dubai Honour last week and getting out to 2400m on a wet track will do her chances no harm. Gold Trip will have to find a lot on last week’s effort to beat her and while the raider Cleveland has to be respected, suspect he will need the two miles of the Sydney Cup to show his absolute best.

Recommended Price: $4.60
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

17. Treporti
Flemington R9 (5:40pm)

Treporti announced that he is back to his best with an excellent first up performance at Murray Bridge. Had the race unfolded for him a little better he certainly could have won, but he ran through the line very well regardless. The gelding has run well down the straight before and gets his chance here.

Recommended Price: $5.00
Confidence Level: 3/5
