There is interesting racing right around the country on Saturday, with Eagle Farm hosting the Group 2 Queensland Guineas and Victory Stakes, while at Morphettville the Group 1 Australasian Oaks takes place.

Captain Envious marked himself as a stayer of the future last spring and he looks well placed to deliver on that promise in the Port Adelaide Cup. The gelding ran third in the Group 3 Queen Elizabeth behind Soulcombe at just his sixth start, and while his first up run was ordinary, he was much better last time in the Group 3 Easter Cup, Dean Yendall should give him every chance from the perfect draw.

Godolphin entire Paulele looks the forgotten horse in this year’s Victory Stakes. The winner of the Group 1 Winterbottom earlier this season, he was a touch disappointing in the Challenge Stakes in Sydney but he typically flies fresh and suspect he see the best of him here. From barrier two, Ben Melham will give him every chance.

Midnight Glow looks a much deserved favourite in this year’s VRC St. Leger. The gelding comes off solid back to back runs in the St. Leger trial and Galilee Series Final, which looks to be the key form reference coming into this race. Suspect he will run out the 3000m stronger than anything in this field.

Apart from his flop in the Australian Guineas, The Fortune Teller has been an absolute model of consistency and can win again. Together with Kovalica, he looks to have the best formlines coming into this race but he should likely get a much better run on the speed compared to his key rival. If the rain does come, it will do his cause no harm.

It’s a very open edition of the Australasian Oaks and the local filly Party Princess looks to have a nice chance at big odds. She hit the line strongly in the Clare Lindop and gives every impression of running out a strong 2000m. Expect ‘Stubby’ Holder to position her midfield and be right there when the whips are cracking.
