Yamazaki won this race last year and although she is now in the hands of new trainer Michael Costa she looks well positioned to win again. Her recent trial was excellent and she is particularly well in at the weights compared to her rivals under the conditions of this race. Hughie rides and gets every chance from barrier six.

Forget last start when this gelding was caught wide and wasn’t suited to the track at Oakbank. His previous form was outstanding and he won’t know himself with 53Kg. From barrier one he should lead and take a lot of catching.

Skyman looks outstanding value here. He was terrific coming from well back in the Group 3 Victoria Handicap last start and boasts a fine second up record. Uncle Bryn is a talented import, but let’s remember he is coming out of a Class 3 not a Group 3. Value here is clearly with Skyman.
