Charterhouse has been out of the winners stall for a long time but he put the writing on the wall in a big way with a cracking first up run in the $750K ‘Little Dance’ at Randwick on Melbourne Cup day. The question mark here is the 2000m, a trip that he hasn’t seen in Australia, but the Ciaron Maher stable is certainly entitled to the benefit of the doubt

Southport Tycoon has already claimed a Group 1 this spring and while he has to carry the topweight, he has certainly earned it with some excellent form, most recently his good run in the Golden Eagle when he was forced to go back to last from the wide draw. The entire has a big finish on him and with strong speed here should be flying home late.
