Favanna looks a very worthy favourite to close out the day at Mornington. The Mike Moroney trained filly broke her maiden impressively two starts back before stepping up in class and acquitting herself well at Flemington despite racing greenly. Some gear changes have been made to counter that and she draws to get the right run.

It looks strong form for this race and the lightly raced gelding from the Maher stable appears to have been underestimated by the market.

Damian Lane has only had five rides for Ciaron Maher all season so it’s interesting he comes to Mornington on a Monday to ride this first starter, one of three rides he has on the card. The filly has been jumping out very well at Cranbourne, looks to have good early speed, and should be primed for a big debut.
