Locally trained galloper Diesel should be able to break his maiden here. The gelding comes off a last start fourth at Sandown in a stronger maiden than this and prior to that had debuted on this track with a good second placing. He has been back to the jump outs between runs as well so should be primed fitness wise. Expect him to press forward and take all the catching.

The gap in betting between Islero and Obfuscation is far too big. Islero won nicely first up at Mornington and gets blinkers on for the first time. From barrier one he should press forward and get the perfect run just behind the speed. Building a nice record, he can win this.

Lord Paramount comes back to country Victorian racing after having the first two runs of his prep in Sydney at Warwick Farm, then Canterbury. The gelding has raced for much of his career out of his right grade and while he has been perhaps somewhat disappointing overall, he looks well capable of winning this BM64.

Reynaire looks terrific value in the last. The four year old is first up for about 18 months, but showed nice ability as a two year old. Trainer Jason Warren has given him a very solid grounding for this first up run with four trials, the most recent of them being impressive wins. This is a decent enough race but we are getting a big price to find out.
