Vilnius was a good thing beaten last time out at Sandown when racing in tight room the whole way up the straight. Damian Lane will be very keen to make up for that here and he can do so by firing this horse straight to the lead from barrier two, and if he does so he will be very hard to catch in a race of limited chances.

Dragoon is the value in this race. There was a lot to like about his last start second placing at Sandown behind a talented runner from the Maher stable and the third horse that he beat easily ran well in a $75K maiden last night. He should sit about midfield and be strong through the line.

The market has Happy Link as a short priced favourite for this race but from barrier one around Moonee Valley, I wouldn’t be surprised if he found some trouble in the run. One horse that won’t find trouble is Quebeck. He will bounce straight on the bunny here (he crossed a field of 14 on debut) and while we will be holding our breath in the last 100m, around here it’s the horse that will be in front that you want to be on.

Catahoula was a beaten favourite first up but she didn’t lose many admirers there finishing second. She’s always looked like a filly who would relish 1200m and she gets that here. She has always had the ability to run a slick sectional so if she can hold her spot from barrier two, should be too strong late.
