Thursday Night Football sees a clash between two of last season’s NFC playoff teams, the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Giants.
Best Bet
The 49ers appear to be the dominant team in this matchup but 10.5 is a big line to cover.
San Francisco could hardly have been more impressive in the first two weeks, firstly demolishing Pittsburgh on the road before comfortably handling their division rival Rams on the road last week.
They return to Levi’s Stadium for this game where they were utterly dominant last year, with a 10-1 head to head record and an even more impressive 9-2 record against the spread.
New York on the other hand have had a much rougher start to the season. They were demolished 40-0 in Week 1 against the Cowboys, before rallying from 28-7 down to beat the Cardinals last week.
That might sound impressive on face value but the Cardinals are probably the worst roster in all of football.
The Giants defence has been a real weakness, ranking 32nd in points allowed through the first two weeks. They’ve conceded five rushing touchdowns so far this season so it’s easy to see 49ers star back Christian McCaffrey running rampant again.
So why not back the Niners at the line? Since 2008 teams that have outscored their opponents by 25 points or more through the first two weeks are 15-28-2 against the number.
With that in mind, the over looks the right way to play this game. The Niners should have no trouble moving the football and the Giants found some rhythm in the second half last week, at least enough to put up their share of the points in this one.
Same Game Multi
49ers star running back McCaffrey has had an outstanding start to the year with 268 rushing yards and two scores in his first two games. He should have plenty of success against the Giants porous run defence.
Value Bet
Former Bills and 49ers running back Brieda will be stepping up to RB1 with Saquon Barkley missing for the Giants due to injury. He looks nice value to score this week as he should see plenty of carries.
