With quarterback Justin Herbert done for the year, Chargers coach Brandon Staley needs to produce a miracle in order to save his job. That could start with a win over their AFC rivals, the Raiders.
Best Bet
The Chargers have been a bad team with Justin Herbert, now that their star quarterback is missing all hope is lost.
While the Chargers offence has been somewhat disappointing with Herbert at QB, their defence has been flat out diabolical, as it has been every year with Brandon Staley in charge.
The Chargers rank 23 in points per drive and 28th in yards per drive, once again in the bottom half for both metrics as they have been every year under Staley.
Herbert was replaced by 28 year old Easton Stick last week, who didn’t look too bad when called upon, but it’s hard to have any faith in a player who has never started an NFL game.
They come up against a Raiders defence which has really sprung to life since Antonio Pearce was appointed head coach, conceding 20 points or less in four of their five games.
That includes holding the Vikings to just three points last week, a game the Raiders managed to lose due to the diabolical play of their offence.
The Chargers defence is a much decent proposition though, and I expect the Raiders to find enough offensively – especially on the ground – to win this one.

Aidan O’Connell is coming off his worst game but he passed for well over 200 yards when these teams met earlier in the season and is well capable of passing this mark.
Hunter Renfrow was well and truly in the doghouse under Josh McDaniels but has cleared this number in four out of five games with Antonio Pearce as head coach.
Value Bet
Meyers has seven touchdowns on the season, and interestingly six of them have been the first touchdown of the game for Las Vegas. He’s a nice price to find the end zone once again here.
