The NSW Open takes place on the Murray River for the second year running and Cameron Smith is going to be very hard to beat if he has anywhere near his A-game.
Best Bet
This year’s NSW Open is not the strongest field and the presence of a major winner and one of the greatest Australian players ever makes this his to lose. Cameron Smith has not won since August 2023 but he is rarely far away when back on Australian shores. He has finished Top 8 in three of his last five. The price Smith is tends to be stay away but in this field the $4.30 looks extreme value.
Mid-Tier Bet
Buchanan has been airborne recently with two wins in his last five starts with Top 13 finishes all around those victories in WA and SA. He finished T-29 in this event last year and was going much worse.
Value Bet
Carter has yet to break his pro maiden but he has been playing superbly with runner-up finishes in two of his last three: the Queensland PGA Championship and WA Open. Finished T-6 in the Murray River event last year.
Longshot Bet
McLeod won this event back in 2018 but has not tasted a lot of success since. Playing back into form with T-13 and T-23 finishes at his last two starts. Key with him is how he goes around the Murray with Top 8 finishes in last year’s NSW Open and Webex Murray River events.
