In the ODI World Cup, India faces off against England. A top-ranked Indian team, unbeaten so far, is set to clash with England, who have had a terribly disappointing start to the tournament. The match will be played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, where teams batting second have historically fared better.
Head-to-Head
India, currently ranked 2nd in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 points table, has been a formidable force in the tournament, winning all five of their matches, including victories against Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand.
England, on the other hand, has had a dismal start to their World Cup defense, losing four of their first five matches and currently sitting 9th in the points table.
India’s top batsmen, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, have been in great form, with Kohli being the top run-scorer for India with 354 runs.
India’s bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, have also performed exceptionally well, conceding the fewest runs per over in the tournament (4.91).
England have been pitiful so far and look no match for India on their home deck.
Most Runs
Virat Kohli has been in excellent form in the tournament, scoring 354 runs at an average of 118. He has shown a great aptitude for playing under pressure and has been a consistent performer for India in the tournament. His performance in the previous matches and his experience playing at the Ekana Stadium make him a good bet for the highest run-scorer.
Most Wickets
Jasprit Bumrah, with 11 wickets at an average of 16 and an economy rate of 3.81, has been the best bowler for India in the tournament. His ability to swing the ball both ways and his exceptional death bowling make him a strong bet to be the top wicket-taker for India.
