Best Bets
You can lock Nick Daicos in for 3 votes with 40 disposals and 2 goals against the Demons on Friday night, with the Neal-Bullen tag not eventuating and the third-year Magpie running amok.
He’s only marginally ahead of Cripps, who many experts gave the three votes for his performance against St Kilda, but I’m nowhere near as confident on this – the Blues lost, Walsh was huge for Carlton while Hewett and Newman also won a lot of ball.
Don’t be surprised if we see our first tie in over 20 years!
I’ve got Butters on the cusp of a top-five finish this year, which makes the $2.05 great value for a top-10 finish in my opinion.
The Power mid’s numbers are almost identical to last season, with Port Adelaide winning just one less game. Horne-Francis will take votes, but Rozee certainly won’t poll near the level of 2023.
Butters polled 27 votes last season – if he repeats that effort he’ll finish top-five, and if he’s close it’s an easy top-10 finish.
Value BetS
Similar to last year, Zak Butters has stormed home to finish the season and with the Power recording 16 wins – the second most in the competition, someone simply has to poll.
We have a very spread count for the Power with Butters on 22.5 (finishing sixth), along with Horne-Francis on 19.25, Wines on 15.25 and Rozee 12.75 – but if one or two of these players polls poorly and Butters picks up their spread, he’s really close to top-three calculations and shouldn’t be at this price.
A real nice price for Jack Sinclair to lead St Kilda’s votes, and I’d also have a play at Jack Steele. Sinclair polled over 20 votes last season for the Saints, and although his numbers were slightly down on last year, he was still easily St Kilda’s leading ball-winner.
Rowan Marshall is the short-price favourite – but if you’re a ruckman and your name is not Max Gawn, you’re not going to poll.
Marshall had nearly an identical year to last year, and he only polled three votes in 2023. I much prefer both Sinclair and Steele above the ruckman, but Sinclair on top.
Brayshaw came home like a train in 2024, with 33 or more disposals in five of Freo’s last six games. It makes him a real threat to Caleb Serong for most Dockers votes, even though four of those games resulted in losses.
