With Banchero out for the Magic for an extended period of time, a key player has stepped up in his absence and it’s probably not who you would have thought.
Best Bet
Atlanta Hawks @ New Orleans Pelicans (11:10am)
Capela gets a great look at this Pelicans line-up playing a make-shift centre between Theis, Missi and Zion.
The Hawks big man splits minutes with Okongwu, but has covered this line in his last three games playing around 24 minutes per game.
These minutes may take a hit soon, but while the Hawks remain limited with their rotations due to injuries and Capela averaging 18.4 points per 36 minutes without Hunter and Bogdanovic on the floor, this should be an easy cover.
SGM – Capela 10+ Points / Zion 6+ Rebounds / Johnson 4+ Assists = $3.40
Next Best
Detroit Pistons @ Brooklyn Nets (7:40am)
Chicago was a good win for the Brooklyn Nets and they’re starting the season much better than expected off the back of the Schroder and Thomas back-court, thanks to new Head Coach Jordi Fernández.
The Pistons also have a new Head Coach in JB Bickerstaff, and to be honest it’s staggering this guy continues to get work. Look at what Cleveland has managed to do this year off the back of letting him go in the off-season.
Detroit is 1-5 with the second worst offense in the NBA, the Tobias Harris deal looks like another disaster, while Jalen Duren has become so bad under Bickerstaff he’s almost unplayable at the moment. In fairness they’ve had a tough run, but the Nets in Brooklyn still should be far too good for this team lacking offensive synchronicity.
SGM – Nets -3.5 / Cunningham 20+ Points / Duren Under 10.5 Points = $4.20
Value Bet
Orlando Magic @ Dallas Mavericks (11:40am)
$19 for most improved seems incredible value and with Paolo out for an extended period, Jalen Suggs may have leapfrogged the inconsistent Franz Wagner and taken ownership of this Magic team in the short term.
While Franz Wagner averages just 16.9 points per 36 minutes without Paolo on the floor, Jalen Suggs’ numbers are out of this world averaging 29.3 points, 8.1 rebounds and 5.7 assist per 36 minutes without Banchero on the court.
Suggs averages 18.7 points per game this season, but 28.6 per 36 minutes due to limited minutes early, but his last four games has seen Suggs cover 20+ in three of those averaging 22.3 per game during this stretch. I’d even have a dabble at the $67 for a triple double – don’t be surprised if we see one while Banchero is out over the next month.
SGM – Suggs 15+ Points / Suggs Over 4.5 Rebounds / Black 4+ Assists = $4.20
