Racing Tips – Saturday Best Bets for Flemington and Rosehill

Yearning - Expert Horse Racing Tips

This Saturday is one of the best days on the racing calendar with Group 1 events in both Melbourne and Sydney. At Flemington, a perfect track is to be expected while Rosehill will be very heavy.

Best Bet

Flemington 7/2 Think It Over (4:20pm)

Think It Over is the class in this year’s Australian Cup and the pride of Kembla Grange should build on his brilliant record. His last start fourth on very heavy ground in the Chipping Norton Stakes was excellent – he is much better on a firm surface – and he was a dominant winner of the Apollo Stakes prior to that. This is hardly a star studded affair and with Nash on from the perfect draw, get on.

More Racing Tips

Flemington 2/1 Turaath (1:10pm)

Turaath drops back from the Group 1 Futurity and in what looks to be a classic two horse race between her and Flying Mascot, looks the clear value. The Warrnambool trained mare loves Flemington and while she is yet to win over a mile, all her previous attempts at that trip were in the UK, and she has clearly improved drastically since that time.

Confidence Level: 3/5
Recommended Price: $3.50

Flemington 4/6 Let’srollthedice (2:20pm)

This Danny O’Brien trained colt was sensationally backed on debut at Bendigo and responded with a terrific performance, winning effortlessly and reeling off some handy sectionals. Breeding suggests he would likely have been suited to the wet ground – which he won’t get here – but he should be even better suited in an even race over 1400m.

Confidence Level 3/5
Recommended Price: $4.00

Flemington 5/1 Yearning (3:00pm)

Yearning is known for getting back in her races but it would not surprise to see her sit much closer this time from an ideal draw. She did enough first up to suggest she will be right in the finish here, and as a Group 1 winner she certainly represents the class in the race.

Confidence Level: 3.5/5
Recommended Price: $3.60

Flemington 6/2 Home Affairs (3:40pm)

Chris Waller’s star three year old is coming off back to back wins up the Flemington straight and he can become the third of his age group to win this race in the last four years. The wide draw should be perfect up the straight and James McDonald will make his own luck on him. A deserved favourite.

Confidence Level: 4/5
Recommended Price: $3.50

Rosehill 7/5 Stockman (4:00pm)

Stockman comes off a last placing in the Chipping Norton Stakes but he is much better suited out in trip, down in class and under handicap conditions. A superior wet tracker, he has three wins and two second placings from six attempts on heavy going. Look for him to bounce back hard.

Confidence Level: 3/5
Recommended Price: $4.40

Rosehill 8/6 Expat (4:40pm)

Expat was just outstanding winning the Millie Fox Stakes first up and the strength of that form is clear with the second and third placegetters coming and winning since. The Millie Fox is usually a good form reference for this race and with four wins from five attempts on heavy ground, Expat will relish the conditions.

Confidence Level: 4/5
Recommended Price: $5.50

Flemington 9/12 Hesket (5:35pm)

Hesket produced an enormous performance when winning at Moonee Valley last start, circling the field from last and knuckling down to win in a tight finish. The Mat Ellerton trained three year old looks to be a late maturer, but is really coming into his own. Flemington should suit his racing style perfectly.

Confidence Level: 3/5
Recommended Price: $6.00
