Betseeker has you covered for free expert horse racing tips and best bets at Casterton.

The Great Western Steeplechase has been relocated to Casterton Racecourse, so we get to see the live hedges in operation one last time in 2024.

Race 1 – Maiden Hurdle, 3500m

Like the market says, a race in two between Cadre Du Noir and Sing For Peace. I am a bit worried about Cadre’s jumping, especially around this track, so I am in the corner of Sing For Peace.

Strategy: Back Sing For Peace.

8. Sing For Peace
Casterton R1 (12.40pm)

Race 3 – 0-114 Hurdle, 3500m

Maserartie Bay is the favourite off some strong trial form but Casterton is often a track where debutants can come undone. Given that, Texas Hold Em is the value here. He has a real liking for this track and should have no trouble finding the front. Excellent value at $6 in early markets.

Strategy: Back Texas Hold Em.

1. Texas Hold Em
Casterton R2 (1.20pm)

Race 3 – Coleraine Hurdle, 3500m

Dubai Moon set a suicidal tempo in the Dreschler at Bendigo last time out and it’s no wonder he knocked up. Steven Pateman takes over today and he should be able to rate him much better in front. Looks very well placed here.

Strategy: Back Dubai Moon.

3. Dubai Moon
Casterton R3 (2.00pm)

Race 4 – Great Western Steeplechase, 3800m

I think Tolemac can turn the tables on Mighty Oasis from last time. There wasn’t much between them there and Tolemac should take good benefit from that first race experience around this track. Crosshill the other chance but he has had a long season.

Strategy: Back Tolemac.

3. Tolemac
Casterton R4 (2.40pm)
